Tess working her make up magic on Gerald ready for the second half. She’s been such a help and we are all overly grateful that she’s taken her own free time to come in and do stage makeup as well as work front of house. Thank you Tess!! Posted by Jinny

Caught Kayleigh (aka Monique) off guard after the last venue before the interval. Our last show is going really well so far. Lots of energy! Posted by Jinny.

Tonight we had a very different audience they were really responsive and were laughing a lot more than last night’s audience did and sometimes in places we didn’t expect them to. Personally I’m still unsure of how I feel about how the shows have been going, it’s tough to explain the feeling you get after performing this play apart from the strange headache from going through the journey of my character and the events in this play. It’s a head wreck but we’ve been getting some great feedback so we must be doing something right. Roll on tomorrow!! I want to finish this run feeling satisfied that I have done my job as an actor and done this writing justice.

It’s the night before the show, it’s been a long day and the nerves are starting to kick in. Today Shane’s “Sexy Box” was finally ready to use and put into action, and i’ve got to admit it looks pretty damn good with the crazy effects Shane and Steve our technician have created.

The tech has taken a bit longer than I thought it would, which gave me more time to think about my scenes. My only issue now is the Box… “What?!! Shane’s Sexy Box I hear you cry!!!. Yep… its BIG, and when I say big I mean its a lot bigger than I and most of us expected. I know I shouldn’t complain because theres now a lot of leg room but, well i didn’t realise how much the shape of the box could have such a drastic impact on a character and the intentions played in a scene.

As soon as I saw the box the first thing I thought was, all that hard work I had put in the past three weeks working on the Girl’s physicality might go to complete plot. AGHHH! I’ve worked on this idea that because we’ve been using this small box previously that she’s quite hunched over with bad posture due to the tight space she is kept in for lengthily times and how she is treated. But now we’ve have the actual box which is a lot bigger, the Girl can quite easily manoeuvre and stretch in there, meaning her physicality would be quite different to the way I’ve been playing it.

My final worry is the scene between the Girl and Monique. I have always found this scene quite hard to do bringing out all the different emotional layers to the character under the circumstances she’s in. Physically she should be very weak in the scene and Shane, Kayliegh and I have worked quite hard on it. It now feels at this point in time, the day before our opening night that many changes to adapt the scene to work with the new box are definitely needed.

I just feel that because of it being such an important scene and work thats been put in, that I want to do it justice and I guess thats why i’ve become so worried about it in the past few house. My dad always tells me “worrying’s never going to solve the problem” which I do understand, but it sure as hell makes your mind constantly tick over thinking of how to create a solution.

We’ve still got tomorrow morning to make things happen, and going by what we have achieved in as little as three weeks I’m sure with a collective of hard work, Shane will be able to weave some magic into the scene before we go up. :)

Right, over and out, fingers crossed for tomorrow, exciting but nerve-racking times! :D
